So, the kids got their school pictures back. Gavin came home very excited. He said, "Mom, you are going to LOVE my new pictures!" I opened his backpack with great anticipation and when I pulled out his pictures packet, I was speechless. "Wow," I said, "You are such a good looking kid!" Then I quickly changed the subject. Admittedly, I was hoping for a bigger smile, the same beaming one from last year's pictures.
The next morning, I tactfully approached the subject and asked if he was sure he didn't want re-takes. We approached his previous picture sitting on the shelf. I pointed out the big smile in last year's photo. I commented on how happy and excited he looked. He then began to enlighten me. "Mom...that was last year. That was Fourth-Grade Gavin." Proudly holding up his new pictures, he said, "This is Fifth-Grade Gavin."
Needless to say, we are keeping the pictures and you will find written on the back of every, single one, the title, "5th Grade Gavin".

CUTE.
He does still look pretty smashing. :)
You know, I read through my little commentary this morning and thought maybe I made it sound like I didn't like his photo. He's still a cutie to me, but if you looked at last year's picture compared to this year's, it might paint a better picture. Either way, he made me laugh...again!
I love his picture! He's a great looking fifth grader. His little dimple and twinkling eyes are great. I wish my fifth grade picture looked as good as his. I think I had teeth pointing every which way!
Pretty sure I love that boy! I wonder what "Sixth Grade Gavin" will bring!
